of your nieces have to tell you about. I have a pet cow called Cherry, which I milk every evening. She is very quiet to what the
others are. I also have a Port Lincoln ringneck parrot that my brother Joe brought me at Christmas from Yardea, and it whistles
splendidly, but of course it will he better as it grows older. My brother has a greyhound dog called Paddy, and every morning at
daybreak he comes to my brother Henry's room door and barks, making as much noise as possible, as if to say, "
It is time for all to he out of bed; then when my brother speaks to him he returns to his house as if quite satisfied. My brother
has been talking of coursing him, but has not done so yet. Perhaps were he sure of winning he might, do so. Dear auntie, I go
to school everyday, which is only a short distance. I am now preparing for my exam. I am in the third class and I hope I will
pass into the fourth. When the exam, is over I will let you know how I got on. With love to you and Uncle George,
I remain,

Enquiry Into Bankrupt's Assets
A public examination into the affairs of Peter Dominic Ryan, formerly a farmer, of Yaninee, Eyre Peninsula, was conducted by the
Registrar (Mr A. S. Howland) in the Bankruptcy Court yesterday. In answer to the Official Receiver (Mr. A. V. Richardson) Ryan
said his wife claimed a cart, two pigs, ten head of cattle (including five cows), a horse, a set of harrows, and 130 sheep
under a stock mortgage. The assets he claimed, were a bay mare, two yearlings, a waggon, a four furrow plough, two steers, and
the remains of a harvesting machine. His wife, being interested in grazing, owned the cattle and any progeny or produce from the
cattle. Ryan informed the Court that he worked the property from 1918 to 1926. and in the three following years there was a drought
and all his horses died. He took up a wheat agency in 1930-31. His wife share-farmed the property from 1930 on.
He had not been
solvent since 1926 and he might have been insolvent before that. The family lived on the produce from the cows and poultry, the
little wheat his wife had and the commission he earned. His wife owed him about £100 for paying off the mortgage on the Yaninee
property. The money was used to pay off creditors and work the farm. The farm was in his wife's name and she carried on all the
work usually done by a woman on a farm. He bought a motor car in 1927 for £240, and it was repossessed in 1931 with £40 owing on
it. The bankrupt was questioned by Mr. Jack Bonython on behalf of Cresco Fertilisers Limited, and the proceedings were adjourned
to a date to be fixed.
